Tibetan Refugees
Description

It's been 50 years since Tibetans rebelled against Chinese rule, and the Dalai Lama was forced to flee to India. A year ago, on the anniversary of the uprising, anti-Chinese protests rocked the region. Now the Chinese are out in force in Tibet, trying to prevent a repeat of last year's violence.

Tibetans have been fleeing Chinese control for decades. Thousands have poured into northern India. Many of the refugees who cross the Himalayas are children, often sent by their parents. Will Everett reports from Dharamsala, home of the Tibetan government in exile.

Encore presentation from March 14, 2009.
